The parts exceed 120 and the labour time is 4-6 hours so it can be costly. If your car is in good condition its worth doing but if there are other issues or the mot is next week then think about a change.Your problem is not unique cos an 01 mondeo is only worth 700-900 but when the clutch goes because its got a dualmass flywheel which needs changing the job can cost almost the cars value.

If you can do any work yourself, I'd look at a mobile mechanic. If you can buy the parts and dismantle the beast, get him to come round and fit it all back together again. It'll save you some labour.

I'd second Ralf S on this. Having done my own gearbox and clutch swap, if you can do the hard dismantling using the manuals and guides on here then you'll save a few hours labour. Some mobiles might even let you help them for a reduced fee !
