My 146 passed the NCT! Problem though!
My restoration project '95 146 1.6 boxer has just, this morning, passed it's NCT (MOT). I'm delighted as I did a lot of work on it.
It needed a clutch, timing belts, fliuds changed through-out, leaks fixed, heater controls repaired, rattles and bangs fixed... you get the idea... It was neglected for a while...
So it passed the NCT, but being the caring individual that I am, I want to correct some of the less minor errors on the car...
When I first got the car, the rear tyres were worn on the inside, and the outside was almost untouched! On the NCT cert, it says that the rear axle has a Side-Slip/Alignment reading of 15m/km (15 meters per kilometer), and that a fail is 18m/km.
So, what is this? It is alignment (as in toe-in, or camber?)? The car may have been involved in a rear shunt well before I got it, I found shattered glass everywhere, and there are signs that a lot of work was done around the back... I asked a guy in Advanced Pitstop whether the rear alignment can be adjusted, and he said that there are no adjuster screws on the back, only the front...
So, question is: How do I fix the rear tyre wear???
