Madness 164 Blower Fan

My '95 164 Cloverleaf's ventilation blower fan has packed up. It sometimes works for a few minutes when the car is first started, then stops after a few miles. I have connected the fan directly to the battery and the motor spins just fine. The bars illuminate on the interior display, but no wind comes out of the vents! The 40A fuse on the bulkhead is clean and intact, but there doesn't appear to be seperate fuse for the fan anywhere else. Can anyone help please...?

Re: 164 Blower Fan

If it works sometimes, then it's not the fuse which is the problem. I'd suspect the switch, or the connector to the switch.

Re: 164 Blower Fan

Is it definitely stationery, or is it moving very slowly and intermittently? I had this problem with my old t-spark, and used to solve it by carrying a rubber mallet in the car and giving the airbox a whack whenever it happened (I don't necessarily recommend this, as you could break the box). A good squirt of WD40 on the visible end of the spindle seemed to help a bit too.
