well, i have noticed that lots of people are doing resto progress threads with loads of nice pictures and everything. this isn't one of them
as you may know, i'm doing up a 145 1.6TS as a replacement for the GTV. but have come up against a few obstacles, and have a few questions.
firstly, i have replaced the snapped spring in the front with a set of second hand standard springs. the front ones were def about 40mm longer than the spax that were on there, but the rears looked the same size. off the car this is. is that normal? is it something that i will only notice once it is back on its wheels?
secondly, the floorpan is pretty rust free
but has been jacked up in the middle of the floor pan on the drivers side, and the sill is a bit battered. will i be ok to beat this back into shape and the reseal it again with underseal? i am guessing so, but not wanting to balls anything important up
other than that, progress is good. the body is in good shape as far as rust goes, i need to rplace the ARB drop links, but other than that, the bushes all look in good shape.
oh, one last thing. would dropping the suspension by 40mm affect the tyres? i.e wearing on the inside edge at the front? or am i looking at lower wishbones? please say tracking, or the lowering did it
sorry it is a long one, i'm in one of those moods
