Help 145 Cloverleaf judder/missing

Hi All

I have a 98/R 145 Cloverleaf with 80k, when its cold its is 100% but when warm it starts to judder or miss when the power is increased, the temp is always around the 80deg mark and the throttle body has been cleaned etc. Could this be a spark plug problem as I had a fiesta zetec Si which used to do the same when the plugs were about to give up. I get about 230 miles to a tank full, which I think is high? Hope anyone has any ideas as the local garage are not up to much on this Island..........

All the best

Re: 145 Cloverleaf judder/missing

Hi John

Do you know when the plugs were changed? Should have been at 60,000 at the latest. You could take them out and check all the electrodes are still there!
Also worth trying is the engine temperature to ECU switch. Just near the thermostat.
(This is a later 1999 engine, but I think it's in the same place on yours).
It's either £10 or £20 depending which one you need, and is DIY fitment. www.ebspares.co.uk would probably have one.

If it's only started since refuelling.... run it low and fill at a busy brand garage

And a bottle of "injector" cleaner as well wouldn't go-a-miss in this situation

Thumbs Up Re: 145 Cloverleaf judder/missing

Just to let you know that I changed the Lambda sensor and also checked the plugs, when checking I noticed there was oil/water in the plug sockets. Cleaned (must have been there a while) the oil/water out and have since had no oil/water in there over the last two days since doing the job. Fresh tank on fuel from a different garage and the cloverleaf is back to its normal self, even its nice engine sound is back, no spitting or spluttering. the old lambda sensor was a the correct colour so all was well there but changed it while the new one was there.

Thanks for all your help

Where is the best place to buy a new set of pugs, mail order as there are not many place on the island for that sort of thing.

All the best.
