146 1998 - brake pedal noisy & no brakes
I would appreciate some assistance with this as I am and a number of mechanics are drawing a blank.
The problem is that the brake pedal goes almost to the floor before any braking occurs (eng on ), with engine off the pedal is hard half way down. The pads & discs have been replaced, new master cyl fitted, S/H servo fitted and the brakes bled I would say 15 times. There are no leaks!
As it stands I have little to no brakes. I appreciate that the new pads need to bed in but the pedal going all the way down is totally wrong. There is an air/swoosh noise for the first half of pedal depress - then a pop/slight restriction - then the pedal starts to harden slightly.
While driving, if you pump the pedal, the pedal becomes more responsive but as soon as you stop it's back to square one.
I also noted that as you pump the pedal the digital clock brightness fades up and down in tandem with the pedal being pressed? ( maybe it has nothing to do with it )
Any suggestions please, thanks.
