Just bought a new tyre for my Cloverleaf "Yokohama 195/55/15/V" for £66 I thought that this was a superb price, I need another 2 as well soon. What is the opinion of this make of tyre and do you recon its a good price ?
Sounds good. I recently saw Toyo Proxy S1s 195/55-R15V on http://www.mytyres.co.uk for £45/corner. Includes delivery but not fitting which is ~£8/corner.
I'm going to do a full set for my car soon, I can't decide between these Toyos and Avon ZR1s. The Toyos have a great looking tread pattern but the Avons apparantly grip better given the stiffer sidewalls.
Price may come into it though as I've not found Avons for anywhere near the price quoted above.
I have used mytyres.com a couple of times and I can recomend their service. I found by shopping around locally (in East Sussex) I got fitting balancing and new valve for £5 a corner. Mytyres website have a list of fitters and their prices which should help.
Oops, I meant ZV1s. Where did you get those from? That's a good price!
How have you found the Avons performance wise? Do you have the standard wheels or aftermarket alloys?
I've got standard wheels (teledials on a late 145QV) and tyres. I have never had a different tyre on the car to really compare. Grip seems good in either wet or dry and handling is fine, so I had no real reason to change. Also I prefer a full set of the same tyre on the car and only had to change two.
I've heard that the ZV1's have stiff sidewalls, but as the ride is pretty stiff anyway I'm not sure how much difference this would make.
I got them from Phillips Tyres on the A40 bypass on the Oxford ring road. It's a pretty basic outfit with wheels being fitted in the open, but at that price who cares! They don't keep Avon's in stock but got them within a couple of days. Price included fitting and balancing.
