Help tyre mixture?

On the wet and greasy roads lately the 146 has been feeling like it wants to go tail first around bends - particularly right handers like going round a roundabout. Apart from obvious right foot connected reasons I was wondering if the current combination of tyres is aggravating the problem. At the moment I have (as when I bought the car) Michelin Pilot HX mxv3a on the front and Dunlop SP sport 2000 on the rear, they are all more or less half worn. Does anyone know which are the better performing of the tyres? I would guess the Michelins........
Then to get the safest (most boring?) handling i.e. understeer the tyres with least grip should go on the front; on the basis that the better tyres on the rear should be able to follow whereever the front goes, but if the better ones are on the front the back might decide to go it's own way all of a sudden. Does that make sense?

Re: tyre mixture?

I've got very worn P6000s all round right now, let me tell you that's fun at the moment! On the half-wet, half-dry roads we have currently mine's drifting and sliding (controlled of course ) all over the place!

I've promised myself new tyres within the month, esp. if the weather gets any worse.

Apparantly mytyres.co.uk are doing Toyo Proxy S1s for 45 a corner all in! I can find a fitter to do them for about 8 a corner. Seriously thinking about it...
