I'd agree with the other guys on the engine. I've also driven the older 1.7 16v boxer engine, which to be fair makes a better noise, but the 2.0 TS engine makes a nice sound too, and has the advantage of lots more power.
I have the 146, which I think looks better than the 145 (ok, shoot me down!
) and is a bit more pratical - boot is oddly large.
Things to watch our for:
a) airbag light on/iginition light/ actually any dashboard light!
b) test electric windows/sunroof/mirrors/locking/alarm
c) make sure you have dark red master key - very important!
Also, make sure gearshifts are un-clunky and that there is no nasty vibration in gearstick.

P.S. just been out in mine, got quite hairy giving it some stick on a particular stretch of windy road complete with inclines (road that goes between Egham and Virginia water down the side od Royal Holloway college in Surrey if anyone is interested..) great fun!
