146 MOT Failure- do I break it?
Well guys, my '97 146 Ti failed it's MOT today. The handbrake isn't strong enough but the biggie is rust in the floorpan/suspension area in all four corners of the car. It's a real shame because the car is otherwise in great condition. Every single electrical anything works including the sunroof and back wiper, there are no warning lights or errors, it's got all the keys, Black Momo leather and 4 brand new tyres and front pads that have covered less than 100 miles! Engine is strong, gearbox is good and everything works!
I've got to get underneath it myself and check it out but it seems beyond econimical repair- was quoted 500-600 from the garage for the rust repair work. But it's too good a car to scrap otherwise. So what do I do? The only thing I can think is parting it out to help keep other 145/6's going strong- but is there much demand for 146 parts? Any other suggestions?
