145 1.6ts allytop loosing temp then injector light
hi 'im visiting from the 145 forum
the other day i commented on the thread named problems arise regarding my engine temp,
iv typed this twice allready but theres been a problem with the site over the last day or 2
so here i go again, bare with me if i repeat myself or get stuff backwards i'll try get this accross as best i can
car works fine seems to warm up over 40c and run ok when im about town usual stop start stuff
now here what i'm trying to explain,
as i said in the other thread it seems to be loosing temp running cold if you like, but running ok
the choke seems to operate fine adjusting idle as it should
(i have had searching issues before but they were brief and thats not what im asking help for this moment alltho it could be related)
now for example while moving at speed in 5th driving senibly with hardly any revs the temp seems to drop considerably
to barly nothing like its sucking in too much cold air and then the injector light then comes on,
it did that on the the way to work thursday, the light goes out when i restarded the car, all fine for the next day
now when driving around yesterday down that hill to bringhouse, again engine hardly doing any work temp gets cool
injector again comes on but while looking for a parking space there is a considerable power loss feeling and again no temp,
when i switch the car on again everything is fine that time heater seemed to be slightly warmer
and the once more the light came on when i was ready to join a busy road so switched on and off quickly just incase there
was a power loss again everything fine and went home.
been out today and everything is fine driving at a crawl because of the snow, and no proplelms and the temps fine just over 40c
the only pattern i can see when the lights on is the temp is low and that seams to be caused when moving at speed too much cold air i guess
i thought engines liked to be cool? hence the induction kit theory,
my car is totally standard 1.6ts ally top apart from running with no cat
when it idles it heats up fine again above 40c perfect in slow traffic
if i drive around say revvy over 3000rpm in lower gears its seems to keep temp but again on say a duel carrage way at
speed driving normal seems to want to cool if i want to have a relaxing drive at speed
iv not been on the motorway for a while due to the snow so cant comment on the performance there and dont think i will be
doing so incase i get the powerloss again lol
now im going to attach a image of a engine bay with lables is it same engine as mine look similar
the maf plug is labled and i notice there is a air temp sender/ is that a sensor?
1) can i unplug the maf while the engine is running, will the light come on will it stay out?
2) can i run it with no maf without causing damage?
3) can i unplug the temp sender?
4) and you guessed it can i run without the temp sender? without causing damage?
i'm thinking change the thermostat what do you think?
could the fan be cutting in too soon? (not really checked if its on just a thought i had now)
but that still doesnt explain the injector light but im sure it only comes on when the temp is low
what i wouldnt give for a warm day!! ill still be putting it in for the mot
is the injector light just the engine manegment light? if so i think a stat change may sort it
anyone got a pic of the dashboard symbols and a key would be handy for the future
i'm not lazy i'm thinking
