145/155 Buying pointers. .

Hi guys, i need your help. . .
At some point in the next few weeks i will be looking for a 145 cloverleaf or a 155 2.0 ts and i need some pointers for buying a good one,

I know the basics for general car problems but could do with help with specific things to look for with these two models.
Fading paint and laquer are obvious, cam belt and variator changes i'm aware of, so what else do i need to know?

155 gearboxes can have problems?
Electrical woe's?

Any help and info is most welcome.
Thanks in advance,
Darran.

P.S 1000 is the budget!!

well the gearboxes in both cars are the same, no real probs with boxes themselves really (i have broke 2 myself though) but the second one broke due to me not torquing it up right and not replacing the clutch.

the 155 check the rear arches, sills, floor pans and jacking points for excess rust (remember the youngest 155 is 11 years old)

rusty floor pan on a 145/6 as well, look fo the D shaped cut outs that let water out, the protective coat of underseal goes on the edge allowing water in. The underseal gives the impression its not rusty as it remains looking sound. You have been warned!

cambelt as mentioned, clutch, although conventional is not easy DIY

make sure you get the red key, a square burgandy one as well as the day to day scarlet ones
