Another tyre question (sorry I can't decide)
I now this has probably been asked a million times but I am having trouble deciding which tyres to get for my 2 litre 146. I was all set to get Toyo T1R's but after hearing a few stories about wear problems and them having a thin wall I decided to put a bit more research into it. So I have come up with a short list based on various reviews from different sources. Here are my tyres of choice along with price, pros and cons:
1. Toyo T1R's: ~£50 each, Pros - Good dry & wet grip, price & availability. Cons - Wear and strucure problem
2. Uniroyal Rainsport 2's: ~£40-£50 each, Pros - Excellent grip and good price & wear, Cons - I can't find any in my size for sale even though they make them.
3. Continental Premium Contact 2's: ~£60 each, Pros - Good dry grip, ok wet grip. Nice price, wear and availability. Cons - None that I can see (I heard they can lose it in the wet tho but i guess all tyres can if you push them hard enough)
4. Vredestein Sportrac 3's: ~£60 each, Pros - Excellent dry & wet grip, good wear and price and available in my size, Cons - None
Everything I have just said about each tyre is based on what I have read and i have no real world experience of any of them so I would like to hear what you think if you have sampled any of the above?
I am inching towards the Vredestein Sportrac 3's for their all roundness and at about £60 each at camskill I am thinking they are a steal although 4 Toyo's fully fitted from blackcircles is very tempting (even cheaper from camskill if i get them fitted myself).
