Help front disc brakes please help

i've just changed a tyre on the front of the 145 qv after an arguement with a curb. incidentally its a trashed wheel and tyre.
in doing so i noticed that once the wheel was off and the spacer was off i could slide the disc toward and away from the suspension strut. it only moves by a couple of mm. everthing else seems tight and the disc runs true. once i had put the wheel and spacer back on it didn't move and everthing ran true.

Is this normal or have i broken something more than just a wheel and tyre?

Just sounds like the locating 'stub' has sheared, my two fronts are the same - the wheel bolts hold it all in place

No. 6 in the pic is what I mean

yep, part "6" is missing or broken.

Only really an issue when the wheels are off.

You can drive without it, it is not a problem, this one is mainly for fixing the tire and easy mounting
