Drainage holes and floorpan fun

Hey all! After my recent head gasket and blown heater matrix adventures, I'm now just about to sort out the rear floorpan after stripping the whole interior and all the underlay/soundproofing in soggy bits!

Just after some advice/opinions really... These drainage holes at the back (where the floor has gone through on both sides) I'm all for totally welding and sealing them up. Are there any arguments for or against this?

Also, should I do anything else apart from disconnect the battery, earth the car floor and new metal and have a CO2 next to me at all times? Putting it quite simply, I never got the master key with this car, so I don't want "Replace and re-program ECU" as the next item on my wallet emptying list!

140k miles and all is gravy!

been there, done that

when mending one hole, make sure no sparks land on the fuel pipes but fully covering them over, they are only plastic, my garage did that and burnt all three pipes and the fuel filter cover. Then grizzled at Alfa Romeos being trouble. Muppets.

ideally some holes need to be there, if there is a water leak into the cabin there is no where for the water to go, so it will rot from the inside out, unless you like welding, put some holes in.

disconnect the ECU, under the pasenger floor so it does not get spiked by the welder

zip tying the battery teminla cables together seems to get round the red key issue, will did for me anyway, infact it would not start with the red key when I flattened the battery the last time.

I think that is it

Good luck
