Helloooo, I know there are other threads about tyres on here But I wanted my own.
I've been quoted what i think is a very reasonable price for 4 pirrelli P6s so i thought I'd read up on them before i got them fitted. I found some real horror stories and wondered if anyone on here had had a similar or indeed any experience of this tyre.
I stopped using Pirelli P 6000 tyres on my 145 Cloverleaf, they use to get badly chewed up on the front wheels, and never lasted more than about 5000 miles, before the inner sides started wearing down badly. I wouldn't put them on my Cars again, just my opinion though, others may say differently........
The P6 and P6000 are what is known as a comfort tyre, i personaly don't realy rate the P6 OR 6000 in the wet as having written off a new 145QV on them in the wet.
It depend's on what sort of driving you are doing and also your annual mileage and your budget.
Personaly i would use Dunlop Fast Response or SP9000, or if you are feeling flush Continental Premium Contact 2or Michelin Pilot Exalto 2.
There are some very good budget tyre's out there such as Falken, Kumho and Marangoni.
I had Pirelli P6000 on when I bough my car second hand, so I can't quote the mileage. I got them with decent amount of tread on them, and I had good life on them - until a piece of tread started peeling of slapping the wheel arch - had to go down a mountain pass on the space saver spare.
I replaced them with Michelin Pilot Precede's - fabulous grip and very decent life. I'm on Bridgestone MY01 now - very good value.
I'll try the P6000 again if I get a good deal, but I think I'll stay on Bridgestone / Michelin for the time being
