Re: 146 Engine Cutting Out
I am having the exact same problem with my 96 146 2.0 ti.
When cold she is a pig, she starts just fine and left to idle a short while it will run really lumpy, back fire a little and cut out but imediately start up again.
When driving it cold the car throws me backwards and forwards if in slowish traffic sitting with my foot on the gas and with the revs below 2500rpm.
Above 2500 rpm it's like the motor has forgotten all about it's cold, low rev probs and takes off, when warm the car is fine but when cold and below 2500 rpms it's really bad.
I have removed as many connectors I can find, no obvious signs of corrosion or cable breaks, I cleaned all the connectors with aerosl electrical component cleaner (Elecsol) but this morning the dam car was rough as guts again.
This problem has only started to occur on a regular and predictable basis in the last 10 days or so and I just can't pin down just what is causing it.
Any help gratefully received.
