146 mot failure

I've been unable to drive for a few years due to seizures. Back in july having got my license reinstated a very lovely couple, who didnt have the time or interest to sort it themselves (had it sat in their garage for near on two years) gave me their old car!!!

A 1997 146 1.8tspark in need of a bit of attention to get it through its test but luckily my dad is a dab hand with a welder and spanners LOL

Things got put on hold as i found out I was expecting and my beautiful baby girl arrived xmas eve so now I'm back on my feet and trying to get it on the road.

Having took it for its test back in july (and falling in love driving it there and back) it failed on the following:

Parking brake efficiency below requirements - not a prob just needs adjusting
Nearside rear indicator adversely affected by operation of another lamp - again not a prob was just a dodgy earth all sorted :-)
Nearside rear (floor) seat belt anchorage prescribed area is excessively corroded (see pics)
Offside rear (floor) seat belt anchorage prescribed area is excessively corroded (see pics)
Nearside front lower (inner) suspension arm rubber bush deteriorated resulting in excessive movement

Spent sunday afternoon stripping out the seats and carpets and luckily the corrosion is only in the two rear footwells which fingers crossed will be welded this weekend depending on work commitments

Today have been trying to locate the bush - halfords and local motor factors cannot supply and local alfa dealer advised they can only supply the full susp arm not just the bush :-s
Any suggestions?

The other thing that i'm not sure about is that when it went for its test in July brakes were fine, when i moved it onto the driveway to start working on it sunday the brake peddle goes straight to the floor and theres just nothing there, obv going to have to get them checked out as no idea when it comes to brakes but any suggestions what this could be ie brake fluid?

Thanks for taking the time to read through my essay lol and i look forward to getting to know you all

ps wheres best for a replacement boot badge, some little monsters pinched mine!

Re: 146 mot failure

I would get the wishbone from Car Parts and Car Accessories - Buy Parts By,

it's not worth the hassle replacing the bush.

19.35+ Vat full wishbone you need to phone they dont seem to have it listed on the website

Phone these guys they will sort you out with badge Mitchell Vehicle Dismantling : Alfa Romeo Specialist Parts Breakers :: Home

Good luck with the 146 they are great.

Re: 146 mot failure

Congrats on the offspring and enjoy the 146, I've just been forced into rebuilding my engine this week, but she's ok now and loving the new valves.

If your nearby and need diagnostics then just give me a shout.
