Re: Alfa 145 Alarm Problems
firstly, what vintage the car, as some has Philips alarms with a little key, but most had an integrated alrm with no key.
At a guess I would sy the prvious owner has got pee'd off with it going off and has turned it off, lost the hey and not mentioned the alarm being switched off to you.
If you really need an alarm with C/L it is possible to cobble one together fairly cheaply, you will need
an alarm from a later series car (the one with the alam button on the key)
a radio reciever for the roof (only off an early car, best go with a boxer to be totally sure)
a square remote plipper off a 155 or 145 boxer
all ebayable for about £40 the lot.
Progtamming it is easy, hold down the button in the roof while pressing the remote for about 5 secs and its done.
The problem is that becasue it is infra red not radio waves, range is poor and it works best down by the door lock (as it poist up to the receiver) so its almost easier to use the key.
