Re: Cam Belt Change
My belt had not been changed for 4 1/2 years, although this was only 19000 miles ago.
I was going to wait until the new year but my car started making a whirring noise when revving, which was ominously coming from the cambelt area. It turns out the belt was old but fine, but the belt tensioner was making a noticable whirr when spinning it by hand - the new one had no noise at all.
The main whirring noise I was worrying about turned out to be a worn auxillary belt tensioner, which will be getting done by me in the next few weeks.
I wouldn't advise on any money outlay items such as this, but I would stick within the manufacturers guidelines. Otherwise if it is running fine then don't worry about it.
