Another 146 Cutting Out Issue
Help me out pretty please guys!
I have had a 1999 T reg 146 TI for about a month now.
Been doing loads of work over last couple of weeks and got everything running perfectly (usual stuff - rear screen, noisy wheel bearing etc)
What I have never had a problem with is the engine or reliability - till now.
It cut out on me once on my 10 mile trek to work Thursday morning, fine on way home, 5 times on Friday morning, So bad Friday night the RAC brought me home! On my cycle yesterday :-(
Its starting great then after a few minutes it stops, few seconds later on come the oil and battery lights. No engine warning lights.
Now the weird bit. It will not start straight away afterwards. It cranks fine but will not catch. After about 2 minutes it will then start first time again!
It idles at around 1000 rpm, when the engine is running it sounds and feels totally normal, its not hunting, does it regardless of what the temperature gauge says at the time. The revs at the time are not an issue (high, low etc). Thursday was actually quite a warm day, although Friday was very cold (especially the couple of hours wait for the RAC)
The car does have a minor leak on the flexible joint of the front pipe of the exhaust, near the Lamba sensor as I am waiting on the bit but I cant see that being an issue.
Oil, filter and air filter where changed four days ago. Is there something easily knocked? I have the fuel filter still to change as I couldn't even find it!
My feeling is electrical / fuel pump but I am in no way competent at diagnostics. Can anyone steer me in the right direction to look?
Many Thanks All!
