Heeelp, on my way home from work tonight my steering started to make whining noise every time i turned the wheel. it then started to judder as well. opened the bonnet and there was some steam/smoke escaping but i couldnt see where it is coming from. tell me its not serious, any suggestions
Hello, can anyone tell me if the power steering pump on a 146 is easy to fit at home? Also, will the pump from a 147 fit? if its not easy to fit, can anyone reccomend a good place to take it in Leamington or warwick? I'm aware of WAD and NJS but its getting it there. please help
Pumps are easy to fit, but the inlet manifold has to come off, the pump pt no. is 60618477. The same pump though was used on 145 (2.0 '94-'99), 146 (2.0 '95-'99), 155 (2.0 '92-'97), 166 (2.0 '98-), Spider (2.0 '95-'98) and GTV (2.0 '95-'98).
its turned into a nightmare! when they finally fitted the new pump a leak appeared in the power steering pipe. apparently it had been chaffing against a bracket and worn through. they've had it for a week now and the cost is aproaching 500 knicker! What to do
It should be dark red -- if it's brown/black, I'd be concerned the pump was possibly on its way out. The power steering system runs at extremely high pressure, if it's burning the fluid I'd be a little nervous...
