Electrics windows

I have an Alfa 145, year 2000, and I am having problems with my electric windows. When the weather is cold the automatic close repeatedly stops when I try to put the window back up.

does anyone know if this is a sensor issue or if not is there a cheaper solution that replacing the motor?

Re: Electrics windows

The windows should only stop if there is excess friction which makes the sensor think that something is in the window preventing it from closing.

The first thing I would try is some silicon spray grease down the runners (available from most motor factors). If the problem still persists then it will be time to take the door card off and investigate if anything is obviously fouling the window runners.

Re: Electrics windows

Yeah I had the same problem, is the window going lop sided when you press up?
If it is then it is jamming and that is what will cause the window to stop going up automatically.

Definatly try some silicone spray (cheap on ebay).
I did it last week because my windows were doing the same, they work perfectly now..

With the age of your car it's probably the rollers worn on the actuating arms or the window seal has poped out some where and it jamimng the window glass.

It is not going lopsided but it is very sticky and stops repeatedly on the way up I will try the silicoln first as I trying to avoid taking the door cards of if I could.
