A fellow alfa owner has a slight technical hitch and wondered if anybody here may be able to help, he has a 155 2.5 v6 1996. the code for the key has gone up the swaney and alfa want over £1000 to fix, he only has the slave key no master, did not get it with the car,
is there any way round this problem can any one help, can you put a different e.c.u in the car to over ride the imobilisers.
If you go on to www.alfa155.com and ask a nice man called FKcream, he'll tell you about his 1.8 16v code problems. He sent the ECU off and had the code bit removed from it. Think thats the easiest way.
I spoke to my Alfa dealer about this when I bought my 155 and they said that if I needed to get a Master key I would have to purchase a New Code Box and a Lockset with Transponder and get the ECU's memory wiped Total cost around £400. Although as chris said I'm sure FKcream is using an ECU with the Code system Disabled.
If the car won't start try this:
Disconnect Code Box (Yellow Box under the lower dash panel the one that house's the alarm LED)
Leave for 15 minutes
Re-connect Code Box
Try to start car.
I was told to do this by my local dealer when I couldn't start my car and the code light was on constantly.
I was also told by an AA patrolman that his book said to just disconnect the code box for 30 seconds (I think) then re-connect code box and try to start the car (this worked on his daughters Spider apparently).
p.s. Forgot to add it worked for me hope it works for your mate.
