Double clutching does not help.
The gearbox rebuild was for the main output shaft bearing, it exploded and swarf scored the fek out of the clutch. The rebuild was about £300 or so, the garage did the labour for free. They had just fitted a new clutch the week previously.
I think there's plenty of oil, recent service, no hot stick and no oil leaks evident. As the car has done 8000 since the rebuild and the problem has only just reared its ugly head, I am assuming wear and tear of some component.
I too have spent more on repair bills than the car cost, including tax and insurance, you know how it is " I'll fix this and that should be me sorted for the rest of the year". If I had a pound for every time I have said that, I would have seven pounds now.
