Crash repairs in Ireland? (parking prang... 1200 repair?)

Hi All...

Haven't posted here in a while but would be interested in hearing opinions on this:

Last week someone in work backed into my 146.. his (156) escaped almost unharmed but I have a (slightly) bent & scratched front wing, broken indicator, and cracked & skinned bumper. The front crossmember (?) has been pushed back slightly too, screwing up the headlamp alignment.

Needless to say I was horrified... but fair play to the guy responsible - he left his number and has agreed to pay for repairs. He would prefer to pay in cash without involving insurance company, this suits me too!

So far I've got one quote from a crash repairer recommended by a main alfa dealer. He does all their repairs and seems to know his Alfas. He's quoted 1,200 (1,000 cash) for repairs to the panels and a replacement bumper, indicator & sprayed up etc. (body-coloured bumper) This includes 12 hours labour which seems a lot but maybe not...

I'm worried that this amount may be above his ability to pay in cash and we may have to go the insurance route

Anyway question is 1) does this seem reasonable and 2) if not, can anyone recommend someone in Dublin?

Thanks in advance for any replies,

Tune it to V6 FM...

I had a new front wing and grill, new headlight, repaired bonnet, and repaired bumper on a 145QV a couple of years ago after an argument with a gate post, and that was within a gnat's todger of 1000, so you are probably not far off.
Shame it took them 10 weeks to get a new wing...

Oh, and the gate post won, by the way.

Seems reasonable enough to be honest Paul. My guess is that they recommended Gregg Martin Motors on Jones Road, opposite Croke Park? If not, they do all the Alfa/Fiat stuff. Had some repairs from them and they were cheap. They were also top class. Once you mention the Alfa garage that referred you, they should look after you. wink

Good guess Kendr

Feel a bit better for that info... just wanted to check it wasn't too exorbitant and get a good quality repair done!

Now to present the quote to the other guy...

Paul, go with that quote. I had a look at doing similar to my car and the price was the same. 12hrs labour for that seems OK too.
Bumper is 250 from Alfa, light is 23. Straightening panels is the killer!
