Today we progressed this problem, the temp is OK, the sensor is OK, the loud noise post variator change is normal (it will fill with oil the first time you hit 3500rpm and from then on it will be quiet....as it is today), also when turning the engine by hand you force oil out of the tappets as you line up the cams for the blocks and when you spin it for the post instalation physical check, so the tappets rattle till they fill again too.... BUT back to the power issue, on investigation we have found that the #3 and #4 coil packs have given up the ghost, as tis is the CF1 engine it still has the secondary plugs to ignite the mix and so still runs semi smoothly, the MAIN coils inside them have both gone giving infinity resistance and so the 3 and 4 cylinders are runing retarded. Tomorrow if Andy reads this, I will have some packs for you and if you drop by I'll get them in and we'll breath some life into that engine and show you what a twinny is really like (for the first time), then you'll no longer be embarressed by being in my 1.6TS' rear view mirror.
