will 17 inch rims and 45 s tyres fit?

I want to replace my stock rims with 17s but i want to go for 45 series tires instead of 40s. will they fit? mybe 17 inch 45s/ 205

I think you'll get clearance problems front and rear.

My skinny has 205/40x17s on it and they clear the body at the back (though some rubbing if I have 5 people on board) but the fronts foul the wheel arch liner on full lock.

I'm gradually wearing away the offending bits of liner so the problem will soon go away but 45 section will be a fair bit taller so you could foul the wheel arch, rather than just the liner.

You'll definitely need 40s. Not just for clearence but to keep your rolling radius the same.
