the laquer thing is a pain in the bum. I've been told it's only on cars from about 1995 - mostly on 145/6 and 155.
This is typical alfa! The paint is actually water based (poster paint!??). So to stop it all running off when it rains, their is laquer over the top. And cos the paint is crap it fades very unevenly.
The worst thing on my car is that for some reason the wings / bonnet have been resprayed with real paint, so they are the correct colour!
I might have found a way of making it still look alright though: I've got some special T Cut type stuff for paints with a laquer on top. Obviously can't sort the colour, but it might help on any little scratches. I'll let you all know how it goes when I use it.
another way round it is to wash the car a lot: mine looks much more even just after it's been washed - my mechanic even thought I'd had the respray done!
If anyone finds somewhere that can so a cheap decent respray then let me know...
156 2.4jtd working it's way towards perfect condition. Loving the diesel warpage!
