My 1st post.
I bought on the the 1st 145QV's imported in to SA in Feb 97.
There were 2 at the dealer. The red one I was going to buy & a lowered purple one that had blue cloverleaf's on both sides.
I test drove both. The purple one was much more responsive.
So i bought the purple one..
This is what I have found out over the years..
Apparently Alfa produced 500 special edition 145QV's in Sept/Oct 96 to celebrate the 100 year anniversary of Nicola Romeo's birth??
5 came to South Africa afaik
The main differences were :
All had a 117kw motor due to uprated camshafts.
They had lowered & uprated suspension.
Blue Cloverleafs on each side sill & a green one on the hatch.
All came with leather & aircon & a gold badge on the passenger side of the dash with a number saying how many of the 500 it was.
Mine is 374.
The only problem is the badge fell off after about a month!!
The mystery of the blue cloverleafs on other 145's is proably due to the factory having left overs & just stuck them on normal 145's at random..
As for the sun causing them to fade!! Urban ledgend.
Hope this clarifies things.
