Even a knackered 145 is great!

This week, my car has been fan-bloody-tastic.

Even though the rad is well on its way out, the fan has been good enough to keep the temperature in check in the hot weather.

In the past week, the poor thing has been dragged 1100 miles: from London to Bradford and back, London to Birmingham and back and London to Warrington and back.

Even though it has over 120,000 miles on the clock, it hasn't complained. It's now 11,000 miles since the last service and it hasn't used a drop of oil.

It still looks great, the boxer sounds great and goes like the clappers.

In the nasty nasty big storms, it still hugged to the road on roundabouts

The seats are still comfortable enough for me to feel fine after spending 8 hours in the car.

Love it.

Rant over. Apologies for going all soft about my car

156 2.4jtd working it's way towards perfect condition. Loving the diesel warpage!

Mine's the same. The engine is so well build that at 115,000 miles, it's withstanding my best efforts at pushing it again and again, and again! Foot-in, the whole way... Just ignore the rest of the stuff which falls off the car as you drive.

It's not a rant -- it's more of an ode actually. Don't apologize. It's great to hear about somebody who's happy with his car. It reminds us all why we're here, and what we share in common.

I never actually destroyed the engine on my last Alfa (86 Guiletta think 156 think 155 think 75 so that makes it the 156's Great Grandad) even though the water pump was p!ss!ng water out every where and that the head had developed a crack on the front where oil dribbled out. Which was my own fault as I cleaned all the old cr@p off which was sealing the hole. and that an engine mount had gone causing it to shear off the bolts on the head that held on the exhaust manifold so that when u floored it the pressure pushed the manifold away from the head causing it to sound like a nascar at full pelt. The poor thing rusted 2 death b4 the engine give up.
