Engine life expectancy
Now my engine is nearing the 70k mark, I'm getting paranoid about it going "bang", in Laymans terms.
There's the obvious cambelt failure(s) to worry about, but no issues there as it was done last July, there's Selenia 10w60 fully synth in the engine which is checked very week and changed at least once a year (flushed last month too). Gearbox oil has also just been changed with fully synth too and the coolant is also changed annually.
I've read a lot about the main-bearings dropping shells due to low oil levels etc etc and starvation and I assume the low oil level contributes to starvation, but what are the other attributes? Car is looked after by Justin at BMC and if anything needs fixing/replacing it is always done without delay.
Also, apart from the obvious, has anyone got any suggestions for longevity other than the obvious?
