Worried about my plugs!!!
Okay, when it comes to Alfas I admit that I'm still quite new, especially when it comes to Alfa mechanics. I mean, don't get me wrong, I know my way round an engine compartment but I'm very very worried by what I've seen today...
I've been thinking it was about time I took my little baby for a spring clean down to my local specialist for the first time since I bought her and treat her to a nice service but thought I'd have a little look first and see what I'd like done when they have her in. I took the top cover off the engine to expose the plugs, then removed the first plugs on the left. Shock horror, the entire hole is full of oil eek! !!!! OIL!!! I would love someone to tell me this is a "typical Alfa" characteristic but it can't be. I thought that maybe someone had missed (badly) the oil intake so looked at the plugs furthest to the right, not as much oil but still oil.
So what do I do? I can't callously take the plugs out cos the oil will drain where oil shouldn't be and I can't see any obvious way to get it out.
Any ideas on what I should do? How this has happened? etc? I could do with sorting this out by the weekend because I've got to drive from Somerset to London and then onto Leeds and back again and am quite worried with what I see.
While I've started asking questions I'll carry on. Is the fuel filter really that far back near the tank? I was looking on the CD-Rom and it seems far too unreachable!! Any ideas?
Cheers for now Gents
