The little engine is a fine motor but anything smaller than 6 cylinders is rather less than a chap wants to be seen driving about in.
Check anything electric works okay (especially windows and wipers), check you have the proper "red" key for the alarm/immboliser if fitted (it's a maroon colour) and check the front wishbone arms.
Everything else is the same as your current motor - that the head gasket, clutch, gearbox, bodywork, exhaust, shocks and brakes are healthy.
Be aware that the V6 is likely to cost a tad more to fix, service and insure (but it is a MAN'S CAR after all - the Tweeny Sparks are more fitting for young lads just come off their paper round).
Finally buy a Skinny body, as it is the true son of the Touring Car championship winning works cars that kicked butt all over the place in the eary-mid nineties.
