Just picked car up from garage who shall remain unnamed, but they are a fairly big franchise in the UK who have achieved Alfa Romeo Status. Bought the car (2000 AR 145QV) last November. By the end of December numerous thangs had gone wrong:
Wipers stopped working..when they got wet. Needed new wiper motor.
Both seats did not slide forward when folded flat. 2 new subframes needed.
Air bag light came on. Due to broken seat.
Drivers seat did not hold height position, kept coming loose! New height adjuster unit.
Car was sold with full warranty, all electrical & all mechanical (later I found out all electrical, does notinclude wiring & connectors!
Reported faults last week of December, as it rained a lot, and having no wipers for 6 days of the week was quite dangerous! They could not even look at it until end of Jan. They had the car for 1 day, and managed to achieve...nothing.
Then there were the warranty battles, they then tried claiming none of the parts were covered..claiming the car only had the driveline warranty, even though I could prove with the certificate it has the full warranty.
It took them 3 weeks to liaise with AR head office and to agree to do the work. But they needed the car to check all the things again. It went in half way through Feb. Then it was agreed that the work would be covered under the warranty, but required authentication from the AR warranty team. So had to arrange for the garage to have the car again to be inspected. (I work 15mins from AR's head office, where the warranty guy comes from, but the car still had to be taken 1 hr in the opposite direction!)
So I've just picked the car up from the garage this morning to have all the work carried out..eventually under warranty. It has only taken 3 wet months to sort the wipers out, now it's bloody sunny!
I cleaned the car the day before it went in. Obviously the seats were removed to replace the subframes. Yet when I picked it up, BOTH seats were covered in worryingly large amounts of mud and dust. I then got home only to find out the drivers seat has been all scuffed on the seatbelt clip and the plastic trim next to it. It has obviously been laid down and dragged on its side.
I have also been waiting all morning for a return call from the garage, as the service manager was unavailable. I will be having some serious words and have put the whole case in writing, waiting to go to the Director at their Head Office if this is not resolved.
BTW I have entered it in the garage opinions section. The garage is in the Aylesbury area.
