damn poster paints!

My 145 has that silly water-based-paint-with-a-laquer-on-top mess that Alfa, in all its wisdom, thought was a good idea for a while.

A some point my front wings and bonnet have been replaced / resprayed and, of course, the colour match is terrible. Also, different bits of the car are fading at different speeds.

Obviously T-Cut isn't going to solve anything, so I am thinking about having the panels sprayed with a normal paint.

Is there any other way around this problem?

Has anyone had this done? How much does it cost?

Presumably I can get away without a full respray (becasue I'm sticking with the same colour), but I don't really fancy messing it up myself.

156 2.4jtd working it's way towards perfect condition. Loving the diesel warpage!

Looks like a job for the body shop. If it's done properly, it won't be cheap - glass out etc. Or you could see if someone will just mask everything and blow it over, and you could do some of the prepping and rubbing down...
Don't go for the brush/ hammerite option whatever happens!!!

Due to enviromental legislation all body shops have to keep a tight control on solvents.
Hence, the trade tends to use exclusively water based and high solids content paints, these days. The good news is the technology has improved and provided it is applied correctly and decent quality materials are used, you should get a good result.
Last time I had a full respray, which was about ten years ago,it cost 1200!
