146 banging and beeping
I recently became the very pleased owner of a 96 146 boxer 1.6.
I love having a new generation Alfa after my old GTV, though I will be sad to see her drive off.
Anyway, my point is that on the weekend, when I was doing a u-turn in a field, as one does, I noticed a knocking sound from the front left wheel. I don't think that it is the CV joint going as it doesn't make a peep when going round roundabouts, for example. Do you think it is the lower suspension arm? It just sailed through its MoT, so I am wondering why they didn't pick up on it. Especially as I saw them checking things under the car with a crowbar thing.
My second annoyance is the alarm. It was working fine ( as far as I know - no comments from neighbours ) until this weekend. When I arm it, it beeps twice, which according to the handbook, suggests that the system found an anomally. Is this likely to be a duff sensor or a door not shut properly? The alarm goes off about ten minutes after I have armed it - not immediately, which makes me think that it isn't a door. I suppose it is an Alfa garage job, but hoped for a simple fixit solution.
