Re: Engine management fault? any advice useful!
Firstly check the relays under the small black covers next to the battery. The terminals can corrode, and as they control vital functions such as fuel pump, ingnition services it can cause the car not to start.
From your symptoms though it sounds like you have a crank sensor problem. My 145 did almost exactly the same thing when mine failed, except mine often wouldn't start when it was cold as well as hot.
Try a search fro Crank sensor (AKA TDC Sensor or RPM sensor) it has been covered here lots as its a common problem.
A new sensor is around £50 for the earlier aluminium topped engine cars and around £25 for the later plastic topped ones, and is pretty easy to change.
You will never be cool driving a Vauxhall.
