Just finished fitting the new thermo - hasn't seemed to make that much difference but I think there's a fair bit of air in there. Have only got about 6 litres of coolant back in there so far. Any tips on getting any air out would be much appreciated.
I'm hoping she's not going to get so hot now but am considering other causes if this doesn't cure it.
I've got a feeling I may have a leak somewhere on the induction side. Wouldn't make the 'mixture' weak and therefore cause the engine to run hotter ?
I'm not sure about this but if the engine is idling and I whack the throttle down, there's a kind of brief delay and a sucking noise from the engine before the revs pick-up.
Also, when the engine is switched off there's a single suck (or maybe a puff) sound too.
Does that sound like air's getting in somewhere it shouldn't and if so, would that weaken the mixture and make the engine run hot or would the ECU compensate ?
