i own an 146 1.7 16v .
on Sunday after leaving a Multi store car park in Watford, one that involves a lot of tight left hand hairpin-like turns. The Airbag light has come on ! and stayed on .
Anyone got any ideas? I think that somethings gone wrong with the slip ring.
Also if i disconnect the battery lead, will this clear the light if its a false alarm?
Sorry again mate. You have to turn to the Alfadealer, mainly because you need their tester to reset the SRS unit, and allthough the Airbag thingy is probably a Bosch Item, allied signal or similar, these are not on the free market. Hopefully I didnt disappoint U too much. A clockspring/contact piece is aprox. 250 - 300 Euro + labour.
I OWN A 146 1.6 BOXER AND I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH YOU.BECAREFULL BECAUSE THIS IS NOT A FALSE ALARM.FIRST OF ALL YOU MUST DISCONNECT THE CRASH SENSOR (IT IS BEHIND THE RADIO PLAYER OF YOUR CAR.THEN YOU MUST GO TO A PLENIPOTENTIARY WORKSHOP OF ALFA ROMEO AND TELL THEM YOUR PROBLEM.A STREAMER WICH IS COOPERATES WITH THE AIRBAG MUST BE THE PROBLEM ,AND THE SOLUTION IS TO CHANGE IT. IF YOU DONT DO THAT THE AIRBAG MIGHT BE ACTIVATE AND YOU MIGHT HAVE AN UNEXPECTED ACCIDENT
I'm having a similar problem. The display is visible, but it doesn't appear to be backlit. The time is about two hours out, but it is keeping time. I can't adjust the time on it, as the two adjuster buttons aren't having any effect when pushed.
