I replaced my two front tyres today - following a careless kerbing incident! (I have a '97 145 1.8 TS with Pirelli P6000 at the rear (fairly new), and an older P4000 left front and a budget rt front. All 195/55 VR 15's).
I got 2 Bridgestone RE720's, as I had wanted, and the difference was immediately noticeable, the car now goes round corners safely in the wet (there was severe understeer and sliding before), and there is no more wheelspin on wet hill starts. Brilliant!
Better still, just by chance, the nearest tyre shop gave me a great price, £62 each fitted which beat the best internet price (£62 without fitting), and the best quote i had got at my local cheap tyre shop (£78 each, fitted). (It was BM Motoring Centre, Staple Hill, Bristol.
Now the less grippy P6000's on the rear are even more obvious (though they are not as worrysome as my previous fron tyres).
