Advice please, before the missus clouts me
Borrowed her 146ti, perfectly running, drove it to destination, battery strong etc.
To help someone out, to move their 'flat battery' car off driveway, I swapped batteries for 10 mins. The 'flat' battery still had plenty to run accessories but not enough to crank his car.
Job done. however! After putting the battery back I got the dreaded key code light together with the injector light
Cranks and cranks but is immobilised.
I didn't short anything or leave key in ign lock or anything. Car was unlocked and not immobilised.
RAC man could do no more than drain electrical system for ten mins using a lead light. RAC tech support said 'Immobiliser ECU corrupted', Then recover it home.
Removed battery for the night and put on charge, not that it needed it. Wiggled and reseats much of the engnie bay fuses and relays. Put battery back, ignition, key code light goes off and car cranks and fires and runs! A bit. It is idling all over the place and doing its best to recover from stalls, not always managing it. Injector light stays on. Alarming ticking noise (like a worn lifter) from engine top-end, number 4 cylinder - never there before and certainly wasn't when parked before the fuss. Revved it (not silly) to get oil around for a minute, does not clear.
