155 Q4

If you have got it, not all Q4's do, there should be a big water bag tucked in behind the spare wheel. Pipe like a garden hose runs forward through the car and bulkhead where it goes to a pump that is worked via a boost related switch I think. Which pumps the water out through a nozzle and onto the intercooler. Like I said, mine doesn't have the water spray which I'm a little ****ed off about.

Surely it can be fitted aftermarket,
Some Lancia specialist must be able to help.

yepp...I've got one.
I've got the bag in the back and the hoses and the pumps. There is a little switch under the steeringwheel...I think that is the one to use, but I'm not sure..
Problem is that I wanna learn more how it works and look at some pictures of the installation in the engine compartment.
If I flick the switch and have water in the bag, will I here the pumps working.
Do I have to start the engine to see/hear the result??

lots of questions I know....more to come

155 Q4

Before fitting an after market kit to spray the intercooler, I think I'd get a larger intercooler. The one in the Q4 is pretty small, very vunrable to damage, (end casings on mine were cracked by the previous owner over tightening a jubilee clip) and the pipework to get the air to and from the intecooler is a knightmare. Infact thinking about it, I'd move the battery to the boot, straighten the induction path/move the intercooler and then introduce the waterspray.

As for the standard waterspray, no it shouldn't work off of the switch on the dash, it should only spray when the turbo is producing more than 0.7bar(?) boost. Not sure how you can check if it working other than filling the bag up and going for a quick thrash. Stop get out and see if your intercooler is wet. Not very scientific I know. The fuse for the waterspray pump may also be taken out, or never fitted in the first place, but I'm not sure where the hell that would go.

Hope this helps a little.

Steve

I only moved so my steering wheel would be on the correct side.

Ou Ou, loads of Q4's

Like I don´t have any info about this system, I´ve removed trunk panels and study the complete wiring.....here are the wire colours :

Pressure Sensor:
Black : conected to ground
Brown : conected to terminal "85" of relay.

Relay:
Brown (85) : to pressure sensor
Red (86) : to (+)
Green (87) : to water pumps
Red (30) : bridge to red (86)

At the right of the power steering reservoir it´s located a inlet manifold presure sensor....(looks like an oil pressure bulb)

When a high pressure it´s measured, thia sensor "close" the circuit sending a ground signal to a relay, activating it (located over de fuse box), this relay sends 12V to two electrical water pumps (are like windscreen washer pumps, manufactured by Hella). This pumps sends a good quentity of water to a nozzle that is located in front of air intecooler....
A very good purge is needed to get water by the nozzle.

A easy way to test the system is disconnecting the brown and the black wires of the sensor and joining them.

For more info go to : http://digilander.iol.it/hfalex/index2.htm
click in "tech info", and then in "water spray kit".

Ref:
1 : Water tank
2: Water Pumps
6: One way water valve (manufac. by hella)
14: Relay
16: Sensor
21 : Sensor bracket
24: nozzle

Sorry about my poor english.

If anyone needs something plz don´t hesitate send me a email.

Best regards
