Re: 145 help
Our 145 in Giallo Zoe (bright metallic yellow!) is 8 years old with just over 50k miles on clock driven by my wife, daughter, son and occassionally by myself and we all enjoy driving it. Main things to look out for are 1) does engine sound like a diesel on idle, if so it needs a new variator 2) has it had its "big" service done - belts, eight spark plugs etc this is expensive 3) Is engine rough on idle and wont rev beyond 5k, disconnect MAF and if it runs smooth and revs to 7k thats your problem.
Bodywork is galvanised and very corrsion resistant, electrics despite Alfas reputation are robust and reliable in my experiance, gearbox is fine but check it with a quick change down to second if it crunchs syncro is worn.
We love our 145: its styling is classic Italian, plenty of room inside front, backand boot, lovely to drive, handles well and rides reasonably well overall, a much underated car imo. Final piece of advice ...check for a full service history and if you acquire one check the oil at least every 500miles. Good luck I hope you find a good one.
