146 boxer front subframe needed

My P reg 146L 1.6 boxer has just had its MOT , and passed but with an advisory about the front subframe . There is corrosion apparently which they say cannot be welded , and it is anticipated that by next year it will constitute a failure . Well , maybe it can be welded and maybe it can't , but my preferred solution would be to get a sound used subframe and have it stripped , painted and fitted . With this in mind , I located such a part from a known trader , bought it and had it delivered to the garage I use . Having cleaned it and painted it they now tell me it is not the right part and won't fit , probably a T-spark version , so it will be going back !
Can anyone advise what versions of this subframe may exist and if they know where I might get such a part , or even if Alfa have a hidden store of new parts locked away somewhere . From online parts catalogues I believe it is part no. 60584876 , and I stress it is for the boxer engine variant .I am attaching a pic of mine as fitted .
I know that the chances of finding a decent condition part that is not rusted are slim , but you have to hope don't you !

Derek

Rats!

this is a bad situation to be in, Derek...

I don't have an answer for you I am afraid (other than mentioning the lovely blue 146 boxer that has just appeared for sale- but it would be a crime to break that for this)

I think as a worst case scenario, you are looking at trying to find an outfit that can repair or refabricate your existing part- but obviously there are significant implications for that work.

I hope you get the information required...

Thanks for your kind thoughts ! The search goes on , but it may come down to finding a clever repairer....

Oh, that IS good news Derek!

Have you taken delivery yet?

What's it like? Are you going to get it powder coated first..?

Yes , received and fitted ! It is in very sound condition so my garage have stripped it back to bare metal , some sort of anti-rust treatment and painted shiny black .
Lovely

Hey- that's great; I wish I had your garage!

I need to confront my own subframes shortly; they have appeared as an advisory on the MOT: but I am hoping to make the worst of it disappear without actual removal.

In your case- did you have to remove the engine, to remove the subframe..?

The job was done by my garage and I was not there whilst they did it , but I understand that the engine / gearbox has to be supported or hung from above whilst the subframe is unbolted and removed from below . The engine , hopefully , stays in place !
