Firstly, I have now got my connector/interface for Alfadiag - just need to make up the 16-pin to 3-pin adapter. Looking forward to see how it all works!
I just wanted to to ask those with more knowledge for an opinion or two:
My 145TS 1.6 has had the old erratic idle problem ever since I have had it. The following has been done over the past 6 months or so;
- Cambelt etc renewed
- New variator
- New plugs
- New MAF
- New temp sensor
- ECU & idle reset
- Throttle body clean up & WD40
Lambda sensor replaced about a year ago
The idle is better when cold but still does its thing once the engine is up to temperature.
The car also has the habit of nearly "choking off" if I start to pull away with revs too low, it nearly dies but not quite & if I take my foot off the gas it gives a little back fire & continues business as usual (not good when pulling out across the traffic!)
Other symptoms are:
"lumpy" running when on part throttle or light acceleration
Higher than expected fuel consumption when driving "sensibly".
Occaisional back fires.
My intuition tells me it could be the idle stepper/throttle position potentiometer, is this a possibility & if so what should I look for on Alfadiag once I have it up & running?
Apologies for the long post!
