If you want a more permanent solution to the broken headlight reflector adjuster issue then take look at the following thread where there is a group buy currently going on (go to post #93 onwards in that thread for group buy details)...
Alfa145.com - Reflector Adjusters In Teflon Material

Well worth the investment IMO and a permanent fix to this very common issue.

The problem with replacement second-hand headlights is that unfortunately they are just going to end up the same way due to one of many bad decisions by the Alfa designers to use plastic that ends up going very brittle with age so if you use second-hand lights then it's quite likely you would end up having to replace them again before next years MOT.

I won't be posting on this forum any more. If you want to know why and/or you want answers to some 145/146 related questions then please feel free to pop over to and post on the alfa145.com forum where you will find me with the same member name.

I have now disabled all my private messaging options on here but you can PM me over on the alfa145.com forum if you need to.

Has anyone bought and fitted a set of these? What are they like to fit and are they a good quality product?

I've got a set on their way to me in the post. Other people who've already fitted them have not been disappointed. There are pictures of them in the thread link of my previous post.

Did you do the "Italian tune up" just before the MOT and make sure the emissions test was done while the engine was still red hot?

we did indeed as the mot tester is a good friend of mine (although provides no dodgey favours!) and is very sympathetic towards italian cars as he is an x lancia technician from the late eighties. it was running for hours!!! but thanks all the same for the tip. always good to have a nice hot cat!!

If you've got FiatECUScan I would hook it up and see what the Lamba readings are.

What did you use to bond the glass back to the headlamps after you fitted the new adjusters? I've got some tigerseal left over from last year when I welded up the floorpan so was thinking that might be be suitable(?)

if you use tiger seal that will be the last time you open them!!! if thats ok then it will definitely do the job!!! i used black silicon sealant so if i need to replace a lens in the future i can.
