intermittent ABS light
Hi Guys
After some advice please. Did a search but couldnt find what I was after.
Had a 146Ti for 10yrs which has gone to rest now but bought the missus a W reg 1.8 about 18 months ago now, 23k miles from new. About a month ago had front to rear brake pipe replaced and all new fluid but no problems until now.
Yesterday whilst driving the ABS light came on. Brakes not affected but only switching ignition off resets. Light will come on without brakes being operated but occasionally when you press the brake pedal feels like ABS is coming on (like braking hard on gravel). Feels different to my S reg Ti. If it is ABS its eems a lot faster pulsing than i'm used to. Also braking harder or in a similar style doesnt give the same effect once it has happened. Got the ABS sensors to start spinning last night but couldnt get them out, took connections apart and checked cables and nothing obviously wrong. Car still did exactly the same after. Brakes dont need to be operated for sensor to come on. Turning tight right also seemed to put the light on (sensor wiring on the front?)
So any suggestions on what problem might be, sensor or the pump or something else?
How do you tell if pump is playing up?
How can you tell which sensor is playing up?
Anything else to check?
If it is a sensor any preferences on where to get one from?
Any other advice much appreciated.
