HELP ! 145 boxter cambelt change !
Help !
I have just bought a 1996 T145, 138 k Kms, which is LOVELY.
Mark you, the back wheels dance about when pressed. - Really hard, but you gotta have a go!
But, my problem is, looking at the records, the cambelt was changed at 60,000 kms.
The chickens !
Now, the car has done 138,400 kms.
My question, how long between cambelt changes.
Do I need to have this done IMMEDIATELY ?
All the research I have done says the TS need cambelt replacement at 60 K
What about the boxter?
Can someone give their advice on this ?
Please

I would say for any alfa its due.. current mileage is more than double the first belt change mileage.

Thanks, Biffa
That's what I guessed at. I sure wouldn't like to have the big woof from the internals on this beautiful car.
I had thought 80K, but nobody will put their name to this, anyway, I guess i have come to that.
Regards from us guys that drive upside down on the other side of the world
Cheers

Thanks folks, I have found another Invoice for new timing belts at 105K. Phew ! Yes, I was going to get it done this week. Have to take it 250 ks for service, as I live in what has been poetically described as "The Anarchic North" of New Zealand.
I do have a new string about the headlining, in this moist climate, the glue has let go, and it sits around my ears.
Anyone have a clue how to reglue it without taking the whole lot off?
Cheers

fairly easy to remove is like conventional cars, take off the grab handles and sunvisors, any interior lights the alarm receiver and mirror and it should more or less fall off. Fold down the seats, recline the fronts and remove through the tailgate.
Most seem to drop because the foam has turned to powder rather than the glue failing, so often the best action is to replace the material altogether as re-glueing does not seem to work for long.

[QUOTE=iandbooth] Renew Cam Belts on a 1.6 Boxer 8Valve is 80,000miles with a check and re-tension at 50,000miles, following the correct procedure for re-tension, engine position before slackening off tensioners and re-torquing them up.
My Boxer has done 125,000miles and have had one set of cam belts plus I changed both tension pulleys as a precaution. Hope this is some help!
