Break fluid leek

Well, having topped it it up twice Ive come to conclusion that it is leaking from somewere. I know it could be a number of things but was just wondering if it was due to a silly 'alfa problem'?

clutch slave cylinder is the usual suspect, have a look under the battery tray at the bell housing and see if its wet

Have a look at the bottom of the gearbox for drips where the bellhousing bolts to the engine.

If you find drips, look here:

http://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/alfa-...x-removal.html (156 gearbox removal)

Then put your car on ebay.

i think he means because getting the gearbox off is a bit tricky. but you wont need to as your slave cylinder is mounted on the outside and takes no more than an hour to change and bleed.

I hadn't noticed the car was a 146 rather than a 156. I also didn't know that the 146 had a traditional clutch slave. I want to buy one now.

You should! Great car! Although I nearly sold mine and bought a 156 cos I wanted a bigger engine. In the end I couldnt bring myself to part with my 146 so stuck a 2.0 engine in it and started tuning it up

Yeah same thing happened to my 145QV, clutch slave cylinder was leaking so I had it replaced just before christmas and now no leaks at all.

Incidentally my 145QV is up for sale and I'm open to offers, I'll be happy with a few hundred £ as I have no requirement for 2 cars anymore...
